How to turn on Two Factor Authentication with Google.

Hello, so you have decided to make your NWSC or Google account more secure with 2-Factor Authentication.

2-Factor Authentication utilises your mobile phone with your password for you to gain access to your account.

To turn on 2-factor authentication.

Open your Google Chrome or preferred Browser.
Click on the 9 dots in the top right-hand side of the screen
Then click on Account.
Once in Account click on Security on the left-hand side.
Then Click on 2-step Verification
You will then be taken to the below screen Click Get Started
You will then be asked to log in again
Enter your mobile number to receive a SMS notification with a pin code. Then press Next.
You will receive an sms enter only the numbers into the page to verify your mobile then click Next
You now have 2-Factor Authentication activated.

For Microsoft Outlook and Mobile users. (Getting your school gmail on your mobile phone)

For Staff who are using Microsoft Outlook or their mobile phones with their NWSC/Google emails, you will find your password no longer works. That's because we have to enable a special password due to the new security.

You will need to go back to your google account settings.

Click on the 9 dots in the top right-hand side of the screen
Then click on Account.
Once in Account click on Security on the left-hand side.
Now under 2-factor Authentication, you will see App Passwords click here
You will be asked to login again
You will see two drop-down boxes on the first drop-down box choose Mail.
On the second choose either Desktop for Outlook or iPhone for mobile phones.
Then click Generate
You will then be given a Very Special Password for each device.
Enter the new password into your phone or outlook respectively.
Repeat the above 9 steps for each device.

You now have heightened security on your Google Account.
