NWSC ViVi Student engagement

This document is to assist Staff at Narre Warren South P-12 College with the use of student classroom engagement using the ViVi App

Getting started.

All Students at NWSC have access to use ViVi on their Classroom or BYOD devices. For Chromebooks this should already be installed for them for Windows and Macbook see the below installation process.

Windows

On Windows devices.

Go to get.vivi.io to download the App
After you have downloaded install the app from your downloads folder.
Launch the ViVi App

Click on Login and use your NWSC Google account.
Then navigate and click to the room you will be using.

Macbook TBA

Chromebooks

On Student Chromebooks that should see the ViVI icon on their Apps list.

Using ViVI

Once both the teacher and student you have installed the App you can start using it on any ViVi Enabled TV at Narre Warren South P-12 College.

Student use on ViVi is still limited. At this time they are not allowed to cast to any TV's across compass.

Both the Classroom teacher and students need to connect to the same TV in order to engage with each other on ViVi

Open the App
Locate the Room you want to stream in.
You then have a choice of new tools to use with the Students
1. Message Class.
  You can only message the entire class at once not individual students.
2. Assessment.
3. Polls.

The Students will see the following on their ViVI App.

Message Class

The Message Class tool allows the teacher to send a broadcast message one way to every student in class that has joined the ViVi TV.

Teacher perspective.

When using the Message Class tool you will be given a simple message box you can send to everyone that has joined the TV

Student Perspective.

The student will then be able to see a message is waiting for them and click on it.

Assessment

With Assessment you can send different types of questionaries to the students to answer back in real time.

True / False
Yes or No
Free-Form

You can also set a time limit on how long the assessment will be

The Student will see the Assessment options on their screen to choose from.

Once they have answered you can see the results in real time.

Polls

Similar to Assessments Polls allows you to gauge the "Mood" of the classroom.

Students have the whiteboard option allowing them to create Doodles in class that they can then save to their Google Drive.
